✂"I can and want to be an instrumentalist"
September 19 has been established as the Day of the Surgical Instrumentation. This date commemorates the death of Dr. Guillermo Bosch Arana, the first doctor to incorporate this professional figure
the surgical staff.

Surgical instrumentation, as a practice, arises from the Second World War, when war surgeons
able to operate and save more human lives than were possible up to that time. These activities were also supported by the advent of the use of antibiotics. This happens in the year 1928, when Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin. Contemporaneously with this, and given the shortage of personnel to assist in surgical matters, the army began to train the men's corps to help them in surgeries, under the direct supervision of the surgeon, in order to supply the field hospitals of the theaters of operations in the Pacific and Europe, since women were not allowed to embark on hospital ships and were also requested to care for the wounded in base hospitals and in homes. It is there where a new profession is born, that of the Surgical Instrumentation.
